Pamela Curing Hepatitis C

Actress Pamela Anderson believes she will cure the Hepatitis C virus she contracted from ex-hubby Tommy Lee. The former Baywatch star announced in the year 2003 that she would not survive more than 10 or 15 years.
However, now she has insisted that she might cure the liver disease because her routine check ups are suggesting that she is getting healthier.
“Every time I get tested my doctors tell me I am getting healthier. I believe I’m going to cure my Hepatitis C,” Contactmusic quoted Anderson, as telling OK! magazine.
Meanwhile, the 40-year-old actress has cancelled her 10 million dollar deal with a strip club joint- fearing that it would harm her reputation.

Pamela is wrong and is doing serious harm to those suffering from Hep C by saying these things. You cannot just “get healthier” (unless you spontaneously cure it, which is different). There are lifestyles changes you can make to help relieve the symptoms of Hep C, which include stopping drinking alcohol, healthy diet, exercise etc. Everyone should seek accurate information on the subject and not listen to this nonsense.
I am a doctor and posts like this make me sad. People are so ignorant of medicine’s limitations and abilities that it frustrates me.
You are getting confused – it is true that viruses have no ANTIBIOTIC cure, meaning that doctors cannot give you any compound or substance that will directly kill the virus (in the way the penicillin kills bacterial infections).
However, once you have contracted a virus, you most certainly can be cured from it – in the sense that your own immunisation system is often able to both fight the infection and beat it.
This principle (of being able to cure a viral infection) is what vaccines are based on – every virus is unique, and if (through immunisation) you expose yourself to a small amount of it, your body will know how to cure it if you contract the disease in earnest.
Your statement is almost correct in the sense that a SELECT FEW viruses are very difficult, if not close to impossible to recover from (i.e. AIDS).
Hepatitis C is not an incurable virus though. No doubt it is a serious condition, but through treatments like interferon (proteins naturally occurring in the body that medicine can replicate in order to help kill off a virus) and ribavirin (an anti-viral drug that interferes with a virus’ ability to replicate) approximately 51% of sufferers are cured. Obviously lifestyle choices (as you mentioned) like eating well, staying off alcohol, etc. are vital in assisting the recovery process too.
Pamela is right. You are wrong. A 51% recovery rate through medical treatment is not “spontaneous”. It is quite deliberate.
Maintaining a positive outlook on sickness is also a very important factor in recovery. The only people doing “serious harm” to Hepatitis C sufferers are doom and gloom people like yourself, who (FALSELY) try to tell them they will never recover.
i hope she does the orld desrves her kind and for something to happen like this to her it’s a shame. and i’m a christian and GOD says she’s doesn’t deserve it and HE said it as “NOT REALLY”.
