Pamela Anderson will be spending Xmas and New Year in Liverpool

She made her name as the super-sexy C.J. Parker on hit 1990′s TV show Baywatch.

But these days Pamela Anderson is more Liverpool than Los Angeles.

The actress was spotted doing her Christmas shopping in Venice, California yesterday looking a bit worse for the wear.

Wearing a short baggy grey dress and white boots, the 43-year-old looked tired and gaunt. But perhaps she will perk up a bit when she takes part in the Christmas panto later this month.

Pamela is set to play the Genie in Aladdin at the Liverpool Empire from Dec 10 to Jan 2, starring alongside Les Dennis as Wishy Washy, Mark Moraghan (Holby City, Brookside, Celebrity Masterchef) as Abanazar and Dani Rayner (Over the Rainbow) as Princess Jasmine. Radio City’s Pete Price plays the Emperor and newcomer Marc Mulcahey will play Aladdin.

And despite a Liverpool panto being worlds away from Hollywood, Pamela is excited to be involved.

She says: “I had a fantastic time performing in my very first pantomime last year (at the New Wimbledon Theatre) and I was thrilled to be invited to play the Genie once again.”

“In particular, I am very excited about spending more time in Liverpool. I read about it being the European Capital of Culture for 2008 – and I am a Beatles fan of course! I even had a chance to check in with my friend Henry Winkler (Captain Hook last year!) and he had nothing but great things to say about the people and the city. I am very excited – see you soon!”

But according to an insider at the theatre, the star has no intention of staying in Liverpool for the duration of the panto. The star is apparently insisting on being put up in a hotel in Manchester instead, more than an hour away. “Pamela’s demanded to stay in Manchester even though she’s starring in Aladdin at Liverpool’s Empire,” a theatre insider told.
